Red Chesnok Seed Garlic (Heirloom, Organic)
To celebrate our 15th year anniversary, we are offering some of our seed stock to you, our followers! Typically, garlic seed sells for $17-25/lb. We are offering a great savings since we want to share the legacy of Lancaster Farmacy with our community.
Garlic is a long season crop. It is planted in the fall and stays in the ground until it's harvested, in July. The garlic then needs 6-8 weeks to cure in a well ventilated area. After curing, it's ready for culinary use, or for planting next season's garlic crop.
Each clove grows into its own bulb, so it's easy to save your own seed, increase yield, and save on seed cost! All you need is a weed-free, well-draining area (we like raised beds), fertilizer and compost.
By planting garlic, you get to enjoy 3 different crops! Harvest garlic early in the season and have "green garlic", enjoy the scapes in early summer, and pull up whole garlic heads during the peak of summer.
